The name Harrington comes from the name of the character Rodney Harrington, played by Ryan O'Neal in the 1960 TV series Peyton Place, who used to show off the jacket in the show. The Harrington jacket was created for the golfers of the 60s, and its practicality and affordable cost turned it into a working class favourite, and it became an iconic garment for many celebrities in entertainment:
